Air Fryer Calamari

Air Fryer Calamar

 Ingredients:

  • 1 pound calamari rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • Vegetable oil spray

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  3. Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture, coating them evenly.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg.
  5. Dip the calamari rings in the egg, then in the panko bread crumbs.
  6. Coat the calamari rings evenly with the bread crumbs.
  7. Place the calamari rings in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  8. Spray the calamari rings with vegetable oil.
  9. Air fry for 5-7 minutes, or until the calamari rings are golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Remove the calamari rings from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

Tips:

  • You can add other seasonings to the flour mixture, such as Italian seasoning, garlic powder, or onion powder.
  • You can serve the calamari rings with your favourite dipping sauce, such as marinara sauce, cocktail sauce, or lemon aioli.
  • If you don't have an air fryer, you can bake the calamari rings in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes.
