Air Fryer Doughnuts
Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water (105-115°F)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, combine the yeast and warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes, or until the yeast is foamy.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Add the flour and salt to the wet ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 51 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in2 size.
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough out to a thickness of 1/2 inch.
- Use a doughnut cutter to cut out the doughnuts.
- Fry the doughnuts in batches in the preheated air fryer for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
- Remove the doughnuts from the air fryer and let them cool on a wire rack.
- While the doughnuts are cooling, make the glaze.
- To make the glaze, whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons milk until smooth.
- Dip the cooled doughnuts in the glaze and let them dry on a wire rack.
- Serve the doughnuts immediately.
Tips:
- If you don't have an air fryer, you can fry the doughnuts in a pot of oil over medium heat.
- You can add different flavours to the doughnuts by adding spices or extracts to the dough.
- You can also top the doughnuts with different toppings, such as sprinkles, chocolate chips, or powdered sugar.
