Air Fryer Doughnuts

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (105-115°F)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine the yeast and warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes, or until the yeast is foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Add the flour and salt to the wet ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 51 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in2 size.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough out to a thickness of 1/2 inch.
  8. Use a doughnut cutter to cut out the doughnuts.
  9. Fry the doughnuts in batches in the preheated air fryer for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  10. Remove the doughnuts from the air fryer and let them cool on a wire rack.
  11. While the doughnuts are cooling, make the glaze.
  12. To make the glaze, whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons milk until smooth.
  13. Dip the cooled doughnuts in the glaze and let them dry on a wire rack.
  14. Serve the doughnuts immediately.

Tips:

  • If you don't have an air fryer, you can fry the doughnuts in a pot of oil over medium heat.
  • You can add different flavours to the doughnuts by adding spices or extracts to the dough.
  • You can also top the doughnuts with different toppings, such as sprinkles, chocolate chips, or powdered sugar.
