Ingredients:
- 1 (3-pound) whole chicken, cut into 8 pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/8 teaspoon paprika
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Add the chicken pieces and marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture, coating them evenly.
- Place the chicken pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Spray the chicken pieces with vegetable oil.
- Air fry for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Tips:
- You can add other seasonings to the buttermilk marinade and flour mixture, such as cayenne pepper, chilli powder, or lemon pepper.
- If you don't have an air fryer, you can bake the chicken in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 30-40 minutes.
- Serve the chicken with your favourite dipping sauce, such as honey mustard, ranch dressing, or barbecue sauce.
