Ingredients:

  • 1 (3-pound) whole chicken, cut into 8 pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Add the chicken pieces and marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  4. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture, coating them evenly.
  5. Place the chicken pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  6. Spray the chicken pieces with vegetable oil.
  7. Air fry for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Tips:

  • You can add other seasonings to the buttermilk marinade and flour mixture, such as cayenne pepper, chilli powder, or lemon pepper.
  • If you don't have an air fryer, you can bake the chicken in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 30-40 minutes.
  • Serve the chicken with your favourite dipping sauce, such as honey mustard, ranch dressing, or barbecue sauce.

This recipe is a great way to make delicious and healthy fried chicken at home. The air fryer cooks the chicken evenly and quickly, resulting in a crispy skin and juicy meat. The buttermilk marinade adds flavour and moisture to the chicken, while the flour mixture creates a crispy coating.
