Air Fryer Recipe: Cookie Dough Stuffed Crescent Rolls

Air Fryer Cookie Dough Stuffed Crescent Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 (8-ounce) can refrigerated crescent rolls (seamless or perforated, either works)
  • 1/2 cup ready-to-eat chocolate chip cookie dough (ensure it's safe to eat raw, or use a homemade egg-free recipe)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional, for a churro-like coating)

Instructions & Method:

  1. Prepare the Cookie Dough: If your cookie dough is very firm, let it sit at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes to soften slightly, making it easier to work with. Divide the 1/2 cup of cookie dough into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a small ball.
  2. Unroll and Fill Crescent Rolls: Carefully unroll the crescent roll dough. If using perforated crescent rolls, gently separate them into 8 triangles.
  3. Stuff and Roll: Place one ball of cookie dough at the wider end of each crescent roll triangle. Carefully roll the crescent dough up, starting from the wider end, enclosing the cookie dough completely. Pinch the edges and seams firmly to seal the cookie dough inside, preventing it from leaking out during air frying.
  4. Prepare for Air Frying: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter. In another small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon (if using).
  5. Coat the Rolls: Dip each stuffed crescent roll into the melted butter, ensuring it's lightly coated. Then, roll each buttered crescent in the sugar-cinnamon mixture, coating evenly.
  6. Air Fry: Preheat your air fryer to 325°F (160°C) for 3-5 minutes.
    • Arrange the stuffed crescent rolls in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not touching. You may need to cook them in batches, depending on the size of your air fryer.
    • Air fry for 6-9 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and puffed, and the cookie dough inside is gooey and melted. Cooking time may vary based on your air fryer model.
  7. Serve: Carefully remove the Air Fryer Cookie Dough Stuffed Crescent Rolls from the air fryer. Let them cool for a few minutes before serving, as the cookie dough inside will be very hot.

Tips:

  • Cookie Dough Choice: Using store-bought, ready-to-eat cookie dough is the easiest option. If making your own, ensure it's an egg-free recipe for safe consumption when semi-raw.
  • Sealing is Key: Take your time to pinch and seal the crescent rolls thoroughly. This prevents the cookie dough from oozing out and creating a mess in your air fryer.
  • Don't Overcrowd: Air fry in batches to ensure even cooking and browning. Overcrowding will result in unevenly cooked rolls.
  • Experiment with Fillings: Feel free to get creative! Try adding a mini marshmallow or a few chocolate chips along with the cookie dough, or even a tiny dollop of peanut butter.
  • Serving Suggestions: These are fantastic on their own, but also delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a drizzle of chocolate syrup, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
  • Storage: Best served warm and fresh. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 day, or refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat briefly in the air fryer at 300°F (150°C) for a few minutes to re-crisp.
