Air Fryer Fudgy Brownie Bites
Craving a rich, decadent brownie but don't want to bake a whole tray? These air fryer brownie bites are the perfect solution! They cook up quickly with beautifully crisp edges and a gooey, fudgy centre, delivering intense chocolate flavour in every bite-sized piece. The air fryer's efficient heat circulation ensures they cook evenly and develop that irresistible slightly chewy crust. These little treats are ideal for a quick dessert fix, a satisfying snack, or a delightful addition to any gathering.
Ingredients
- 100g unsalted butter
- 100g dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa), chopped
- 50g granulated sugar
- 50g packed light brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 60g all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Optional: 30g chopped walnuts or chocolate chips
Instructions & Method
- Melt Chocolate and Butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and chopped dark chocolate. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until completely melted and smooth. Alternatively, melt in a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water (double boiler), ensuring the bowl doesn't touch the water.
- Mix Sugars and Egg: Whisk both the granulated and brown sugars into the melted chocolate mixture until well combined. Let it cool slightly for a minute or two. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until the mixture is glossy.
- Add Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix. If desired, stir in chopped walnuts or extra chocolate chips.
- Prepare for Air Frying: Preheat your air fryer to 160°C (320°F). Lightly grease the air fryer basket or line it with small silicone cupcake liners or parchment paper squares.
- Spoon the Batter: Spoon tablespoon-sized portions of the brownie batter into the prepared air fryer basket or liners, leaving a little space between each bite.
- Air Fry: Air fry for 6-8 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out with moist crumbs attached. The centres will still look slightly soft, which is what makes them fudgy. Cooking time may vary slightly depending on your air fryer.
- Cool and Serve: Let the brownie bites cool in the air fryer basket for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. They will firm up as they cool. Enjoy these irresistible fudgy treats!
Tips
- Don't Overcook: The key to fudgy brownies is not to over-bake them. They should still look slightly underdone in the centre when you take them out of the air fryer. They will continue to cook as they cool.
- Use Quality Chocolate: The quality of your dark chocolate will significantly impact the flavour of your brownie bites. Opt for a good quality chocolate with a high cocoa percentage for a richer taste.
- Vary the Toppings: Feel free to experiment with different mix-ins like white chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or even a swirl of caramel before air frying.
- Storage: Store leftover brownie bites in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- Adjust Size: You can adjust the size of the brownie bites by using a smaller or larger spoon, which will affect the cooking time. Keep an eye on them and adjust accordingly.
